Podcasting? Huh?

Matt“You’re doing what? I’ve heard of podcasting, but what is it?” Over the past few weeks, this question has been asked of me more than once since I gave notice at my traditional “9-5” job to start PodAssist.

Not too long ago, I was just like the people that asked these questions. In fact, when my brother Marc told me he was starting a daily podcast to interview coaches (first plug of my blog – check out www.NaturalBornCoaches.com or his show on iTunes), I was a bit confused. Like the people I know that asked me, I wasn’t really familiar with the subject (I also wasn’t aware that the industry was booming, with approximately 250,000 shows online and that number growing daily). As I got to listen to his podcast, and check out others that discussed my various interests (fitness and music to name a few), I was intrigued. Of course, I was still focused on my day job in outside sales and never considered getting involved in the industry, but admired the dedication these entrepreneurs showed in sharing their message to world.

That all changed recently. Things were happening at my previous job, including layoffs. At the same time, I was seeing my brother working a ton of hours, but loving every minute of coaching his clients, developing products, launching his courses, and of course – podcasting. Natural Born Coaches is a daily podcast, meaning it’s A LOT of work. I guess I only really considered the actual recording, not the hours a week spent on editing the shows, booking guests, social media, etc., which he was doing on his own. He spoke about the potential in me starting a company offering these services, at an affordable price, that would free up his time (along with the many other podcasters that may be facing the same issues).

Are you a podcaster? Could you use more time, but don’t have thousands of additional dollars a month to spend on services related to your podcast? If so, please fill out the contact form on this page, book a consultation or connect with me on social media. If you’re interested in starting your own podcast, I can point you in the right direction for coaching. Click on “podcast coaching” on our main page to watch a video by our partner, who can take you from newbie to pro in no time!

Finally, if you are like I was not too long ago, and not familiar with this growing industry, I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to find at least one podcast discussing the very subjects you are most interested in. Give them a listen and support the vision of the shows’ creator, and you never know what new world you’ll discover!
