For the first eight episodes of this podcast, it’s just been me behind the mic.

But…I’ve always wanted to feature clients of ours who are doing big things in the podcasting space and share the valuable lessons they’ve learned along the way.

Today, I’m excited to introduce you to someone who went from “I can’t do this” to launching a top 10% global podcast in just a few months.

Meet Jenn Morgan of the We’re In One podcast!

From Overwhelmed to On Air

When Jenn first reached out to me in May 2025, she wasn’t sure podcasting was for her.

She’d been Googling “how to start a podcast” and felt completely overwhelmed by all the advice out there. The myths, the technical jargon, the pressure to have eight episodes ready before launch (as you’ll hear her say, it was paralyzing..).

Sound familiar?

Jenn had a story to tell. She’d spent nearly three decades in the professional hockey world, moving around, raising kids, and experiencing a lifestyle most people never get to see. Her book editor, Chris Jones, suggested she start a podcast to build momentum while working on her book.

But the imposter syndrome was real.

“I didn’t think I could do it,” Jenn told me. “I know nothing about technology. I can’t even do videos on Instagram half the time.”

But here’s the thing: Jenn didn’t let the overwhelm stop her.

The Gentle Push

In our first conversation, Jenn’s intention was just to learn what podcasting would look like. She wasn’t committed yet. She was exploring.

But as we talked through the process, something shifted. She realized it didn’t have to be as complicated as the internet made it seem.

By August, her trailer was live. By September, she’d launched her first episode. And she did it all while traveling overseas for her daughter’s wedding.

No excuses. No waiting for the “perfect” time – just action!

What Surprised Her Most

I asked Jenn what surprised her most about podcasting now that she’s about 15 episodes in.

Her answer wasn’t what I expected.

“The thing that surprised me the most is the duty that comes with having a guest on and them trusting me with their story. I didn’t realize how invested I would be emotionally. I want to make sure everything they say and the feelings they share are told in the most respectful way.”

That’s integrity. And it’s something you can’t fake, and that’s what I like and respect most about working with clients like Jenn.

She’s not just recording episodes and checking boxes. She’s deeply connected to her guests, her mission, and the stories she’s telling, and that’s what makes her show resonate.

The Name That Stands Out

One of the things I love about Jenn’s podcast is the name: We’re In One.

If you’re not in the hockey world, you might not know what that means (I didn’t at first, either to be honest)!. But if you are, you’ll know this term immediately once hearing it.

“We’re in one” is a phrase used when things are about to go sideways: on the ice, off the ice, in life. It’s chaos. It’s real. And it’s the perfect name for a show about the behind-the-scenes reality of hockey life.

Jenn was adamant about using that phrase because it was recognizable to her audience. And it worked. When you Google “we’re in one,” her podcast dominates the results.

That’s the power of a name that speaks directly to your niche.

The Noise in the Podcasting Space

One thing Jenn and I talked about is the overwhelming amount of noise in the podcasting space.

The emails. The pitches. The “experts” telling you that if you don’t have a complicated funnel and a multi-email sequence after every episode, plus creating a downloadable guide, you’re doing it wrong.

It’s exhausting. And it’s just one of the reasons people quit doing their podcast.

Jenn’s advice? Keep the blinders on!

“Always stick with your intention of why you started that podcast. Don’t listen to the outside noise and what everybody else thinks you should be doing.”

That’s the mindset that keeps you going.

Her Advice for Anyone on the Fence

I asked Jenn what she’d tell someone who’s sitting on the fence about starting a podcast.

Her answer was simple:

“Take the leap. What’s the worst thing that could happen? Nobody listens. That’s the worst thing. And you learn as you go. I’ve learned so much over 15 episodes. It’s okay to make mistakes. That’s how we get better.”

She also talked about getting over her own voice, which was something that held her back for a long time and what I struggled with myself starting this show.

“I probably did 70 takes of my trailer because I hated how I sounded. But you have to get over it. You only live once.”

The Results

Jenn launched in September 2025. She’s now about 15 episodes in (at the time of recording), publishing bi-weekly, and has hit a global top 10% ranking on Listen Notes.

She hasn’t missed a single episode. She’s built momentum. And she’s doing it all while staying true to her mission.

That’s what sustainable podcasting looks like.

The Bottom Line

If you’ve been sitting on a podcast idea because you’re overwhelmed, unsure, or worried about your voice, take a page from Jenn’s playbook:

Stop Googling. Stop overthinking. Just start.

You don’t need eight episodes to launch. You don’t need perfect audio. You don’t need to sound like a professional broadcaster.

You just need to show up and tell your story.

Jenn did it. And if she can, so can you.
